Phase 6

In Phase 6, the emphasis is focused more towards spelling. Phase 6 focuses on accurate spelling and spelling rules, whilst also developing learners into more fluent and expressive readers.

• Adding –ing, –ed, –er and –est to words ending in a single consonant after a short vowel (doubling the consonant)

• Dropping the final e when adding a vowel suffix:
